Stream of Dreams Visits Canmore

Stream of Dreams visited Lawrence Grassi Middle School in Canmore for Earth Week - again!  Last Year the Stream Team visited this awesome school and installed two murals, one at the front of the school and one on the west side.  With all of the students involved we were able to make quite a splash!  This year only the Grade 5s (new to the school this year) were involved in the program.  They were able to make a significant contribution and we were able to add to and finish the mural at the front.  Thanks to all the parent volunteers who braved the elements to come and help us with the install .  The sun shone some of the time and this year there was no snow!

Policeman Creek and Spring Creek are small tributaries of the Bow River very near to the school and a good location to view spawning trout.    Clean water and undisturbed gravel beds are key to the survival of many fish species.  "Only rain down the drain!" is the Stream of Dreams slogan so remember to take your car to the car wash and don't wash it on the street.

Look for us in Red Deer in May!

Coming in 2011

Everybody loves Stream of Dreams!  The Calgary Stream Team of Val and Karen are revving up for the 2011 season.

We are paying a repeat visit to Lawrence Grassi Middle School in Canmore in April - just in time for Earth Day April 22.  This year the Grade 5s and other students who missed the program last year will have an opportunity to paint a fish and add to the growing Stream of Dreams mural.  Look for it in front of the school and on the west side.  The Bow River in springtime.

May will see us in Red Deer at GW Smith Elementary.  Our visit to the Bower Mall last year with program founders Joan and Louise paid off with an invitation to present the full program.   We are looking forward to learning more about the Red Deer River system.  Hopefully we won't have to drive in a blizzard like we encountered last year.

In June we will visit RJ Hawkey Elementary and look at the Nose Creek as a tributary of the Bow River.
